Music Monday

10 songs on my playlist

If you know anything about me, you'll know I'm music obsessed. Besides the fact that I work at a radio station and have been singing since the moment I could talk, I love music. I wanted to start featuring a weekly playlist of my favorite artists/songs for my mood during the week. I grew up with the influences of Motown, R&B and Pop artists alike. I've been working at an alternative/rock radio station for over a year and can confidently tell you that my taste in music has become more refined. So here are a few artists I wanted to feature this week. These artists come from different musical backgrounds, a few from the Bay and others from the East Coast. All of these artists are also in the early stages of their careers and are hustling for the take over. (Besides Adele already being a musical goddess, everyone else is working their butts off to 'make it' in the industry)

ENJOY THE MUSIC!!!

C.O.A.C.H.I.L.L.I.N.

Coachella Vibes

The music festival in the desert booked over 100 artists, 6 stages, over 200,000 people in attendance over 2 weekends and created a lifetime worth of memories. This year I was lucky enough to attend the music festival in Indio, California just a few minutes away from Palm Springs.

In 1993, Pearl Jam performed at the Polo Fields in Indio, California as a way to boycott Ticketmaster and a number of event centers in Southern California. In 1997, the promotion firm Golden Voice (which helped to plan Pearl Jam in ’93) was having trouble booking large scale event centers and remembered how successful the concert in the desert was in the past and decided to begin the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Due to the Woodstock riots and fires just three months prior to opening day of Coachella, the staff banned on-site camping until 2002. The two day event brought 70,000 people and booked artists not normally played on the radio and sold day passes for $50 each. Coachella quickly picked up the nickname as the “Anti-Woodstock”.
Fast forward to 2015 the current scene in the desert. Coachella now takes place over 2 weekends and brought in the largest crowd to date. The music acts range from House, Hip-Hop, Alternative, Light Rock and Pop. The event is now not just about the music, but the fashion, celebrities and promotion of businesses. It was my first year at the event and I can definitely speak for every other attendee and say that it was absolutely mind blowing. The art displayed around the polo fields, the range of musical events and the memories of making new friends is indescribable. I am so lucky to work for an awesome alternative radio station in San Francisco and can say that I’ve seen a lot of the acts that performed that weekend, but so many new artists I am now a fan of.
Here is a list of some artists in attendance that you should listen to;
Azelia Banks, Flosstradamus, Chet Faker, Alabama Shakes, Alt-J, Jungle, Vance Joy, George Ezra, Jack White, Fitz & the Tantrum, Tame Impala, Milky Chance, The Weeknd, Florence & the Machine.

My new romper from a boutique on Haight & Ashbury, Nordstrom BP booties, Roxy fringe bag, Forever 21 necklace & Forever 21 sunglasses

Absolut Vodka had a prism photo booth, I couldn't resist!

The art was absolutely incredible. That caterpillar was so freaking awesome!

I went to a small private school from K-8th grade and we had about 30 students that attended for all 9 years. I've known these two for 20 years, how crazy is that?! We've been through so much together and I can confidently say that they will be my friends for a lifetime.

Sephora cosmetics had a tent at the festival and even had flash tattoos for all attendees. The golden temporary tattoos were definitely the "it" trend for the weekend. I decided to take the trend and put my own unique twist to it. I even made it to the Sephora Snapchat page, what what?!!

The caterpillar turned into a butterfly!? That's so awesome!

The infamous ferris wheel! PS. always wear comfy shoes and layered clothes.

Live 105 presents Not So Silent Night 2015

Live 105 presents

Not So Silent Night 2015

This year, Live 105.3 alternative radio station presented their annual Not So Silent Night concert. This consisted of four days, three venues, rockstars on stage and a ton of happy fans! I'm so blessed to be apart of such a fun group of people to help put this event on for the Bay Area to enjoy. I love that Live 105 can bring such a huge variety of artists to the stage!

And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love

 BΔSTILLE in San Francisco

Bastille came to the Bay Area this week and yet again, sold out another amazing show. The energy that the group has on stage is completely electric. Whether you're apart of the fan girl "stormer's" or not, this band plays the type of music that anyone can really enjoy. Their single, "Pompeii" is not only catchy, but it has topped the charts in both the US and the UK. Bastille's sound has electric, rock, indie and R&B influences which makes them sound different than any other ordinary band.
I went to the concert with a few friends from work. Check out their blogs as well!

This English rock band formed in London in 2010. Within the last four years, the group has completely taken over the alternative music scene. Bastille's front man Dan was the first to create the group and found the other three; Will, Kyle and Woody. Dan's birthday is celebrated on July 14th, which also lands on Bastille Day, the French national holiday which helped the group find a perfect band name. In December 2010, Virgin Records signed a recording contract with Bastille. In April 2012, the first single, "Overjoyed" was released. The song that took them to the top was 'Pompeii" featured on their first studio album.
Their first studio album, Bad Blood was released March 2013 and flew to the top of the UK charts. In November 2014, Bastille sold 5 million records in the US and 2.5 million in the UK. As they continue to top the charts, keep an eye out for their new album coming soon after their tour comes to an end within the next few months.
