San Francisco stole my heart & wallet

Mama made the big move

There you have it people, it's been confirmed by all sources!!! Kastania Victoria has moved to the most expensive city in America. Why do you ask? Well, I sat down with the very single twenty something year old to get the inside scoop.

(what if people wrote like the tabloids on their blogs? haha this is great!)

We sat down in a freezing apartment near the Sunset District to chat with the 'so-called' SF Fashion & Lifestyle Blogger about the big move. Here's what she had to say!

Hey there, to the people that read this blog (just my mom)! Just wanted to chat about my crazy logic in moving to the most expensive city in America and why I took the plunge.

Living at home and being in your twenty's, kinda sucks!
By all means, some people have to move home for a number of reasons and I'm not discrediting it whatsoever (clearly I did it!) I'm just saying that there comes a point when you've saved up enough money to be a big kid and now you gotta get your butt out! As a single lady in my twenty's, sometimes I want to come home and drink an entire bottle of wine while watching Scandal in my pajamas, ALONE! Sometimes you can't do that when you live at home. SOMETIMES, your Mom would be concerned you're turning into an alcoholic. (I'm good Mom, don't trip)

Cliche is my middle name
So freaking cliche, but my life is made up of cheesy cliches. I wanted to live in a big city after college and get the full experience. Yes, I lived in Anaheim (next to Disneyland, right outside of LA) but it just wasn't the same. Anaheim is still super suburbia. I live for the hustle and bustle of loud noises and people rushing around! I thrive on FOMO (fear of missing out)! If everyone around me is running around being the best version of themselves, then I want to jump on that train too!

Accomplish one goal in order to accomplish more goals
If I didn't push myself to accomplish this goal within the time frame I gave myself, I would never accomplish any of my goals. I'm sounding over dramatic, I realize! I'm just saying that if I didn't follow through, then what would push me to accomplish my 5 year, 10 year or 15 year goals in life? I need to take myself serious before anyone else can take me seriously.

Living Reality
To be completely honest, I have two jobs in San Francisco and if anyone knows the Bay Area, the commute to the East Bay is a crazy one! Prepare to join my pity party in 3...2...1...
Living in the East Bay is about an hour away which wouldn't be a problem if the BART Train didn't stop running around midnight. I felt like freaking Cinderella trying to catch the last train before I get stuck in SF. I could drive in, but the parking is an expensive pain in the butt. I work during the day at a tech company and at night, I work at a radio station. Most of the time, I'm working a concert and those end around midnight or 1AM. In order to continue working in the music industry, I had to bite the bullet and move.

FOMO (fear of missing out)
When you live in a big city with no responsibilities besides yourself, you have a million fun things to do! Being an adventure seeker and having been diagnosed with FOMO, this is a perfect place to be, for now. I'm too young to live a boring life and I want to experience everything the world has to offer.

Nifty Thrifty

Nifty Thrifty

By far one of my favorite past times has to be thrift store hunting. Not only are you finding once in a lifetime pieces, but they are unique and you had to work hard to find such an amazing new article to your wardrobe. I recently went thrifting with a friend and found some of the best pieces for my closet, to date!

5 tips to the best thrifting!

1. Go through each item!
It may be super annoying to look through each piece of clothing, but have to let your creative juices flow! You might find an awesome pattern that can be cut into a dress or find a cool romper stuck between the hangers. Check out all items and you won'd be disappointed.

2. Try on the clothes!
Take the time to try on a few of the clothes. At least try on the jackets and sweaters in the mirror.

3. Be Bold!
Time to be creative and look for the articles of clothing you wouldn't normally wear. This is the time to buy something that's different. No need to feel bad either. Don't commit to spending too much money on these items.

4. Wash the clothes!
Make sure the second you get home, you wash the clothes you bought. Clean them up, start your project, wash out the stains and make it look awesome!

5. You can leave empty handed.
You don't have to leave with something every time you step into a second hand store. If you take the time to go through each item, I guarantee you'll find some great gems!

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals

MERRY CHRISTMAS, ya filthy animals

I absolutely love my crazy Christmas' with my family. We've always celebrated Christmas Eve with a bunch of Salvadorean tamales, desserts, ham, turkey and a lot of love. We attend 4:30pm mass, open a bunch of gifts, drink a bit, eat a lot and enjoy each others company. I absolutely love spending time with this crazy bunch. We see each other pretty often but I really love it.

Dressember

In order to change the world, you must give back to others and learn to love, that will restore hope in humanity.

The Mission
Dressember is a collaborative movement leveraging fashion and creativity to restore dignity to all women.
Dressember uses fashion to advocate for women who've been exploited for their femininity. As women take on the creative challenge of wearing a dress for the 31 days of December, they are advocating for the inherent dignity of all women.
Dressember exists to inspire and empower a global community of like-minded women who are locking arms to face one of the greatest injustices of our time.
The heart of Dressember is freedom -- that every woman has the right to live a vibrant and autonomous life.

The History
What began in 2009 as a quirky style challenge with a clever name spread like wildfire. Dressember is a month of wearing dresses, but it is so much more. At its core, Dressember is an embracing of the inherent freedom and femininity of all women.
In 2013, Dressember took on new meaning: opposing the worldwide trafficking and exploitation of women. In its first year as a fundraising campaign, Dressemeber aligned with International Justice Mission, a human rights organization that works to rescue victims of slavery, sexual exploitation, and other forms of violent oppression. Those who participate in Dressember are supporting the abolition of modern day slavery. In its first year of fundraising, Dressember had 1,233 registered participants in 32 countries across 6 continents who collectively raised over $165,000. 100% of the funds raised in 2013 went directly to International Justice Mission.

In 2014, the thousands of woman that participate in Dressember will again be advocates for the work of International Justice Mission.

My Part in this Puzzle
I'm so sick of watching the news each and every night, feeling terrible about what's happening in the world. Not only do I feel sick to my stomach from watching women and children fight for their lives, but like most people, once the news is over, the story is out of sight and out of mind. Many people forget that there are others in the world who don't have the luxury of just 'turning off the TV' in order to turn their heads to the injustices happening in our world. Just because I am only one voice does not mean I will sit back and let this continue on. I might be one person, but with the help of my family, friends and other like-minded people, we can definitely make a difference. I am asking everyone I know to please step up and help in the fight. If you would like to join the challenge or just donate a few dollars to the cause, the mission of this movement is powerful.

High Voltage

High Voltage

For some people, fall weather means gearing up for snow with your pair of Hunter boots, knee high socks, parka jackets and layers beyond layers. For the sorry bunch in California, we complain with a bit of fog. If your fall weather is just a long held out summer, here's an idea about how to layer without bundling up like a snow storm is brewing.

And the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love

 BΔSTILLE in San Francisco

Bastille came to the Bay Area this week and yet again, sold out another amazing show. The energy that the group has on stage is completely electric. Whether you're apart of the fan girl "stormer's" or not, this band plays the type of music that anyone can really enjoy. Their single, "Pompeii" is not only catchy, but it has topped the charts in both the US and the UK. Bastille's sound has electric, rock, indie and R&B influences which makes them sound different than any other ordinary band.
I went to the concert with a few friends from work. Check out their blogs as well!

This English rock band formed in London in 2010. Within the last four years, the group has completely taken over the alternative music scene. Bastille's front man Dan was the first to create the group and found the other three; Will, Kyle and Woody. Dan's birthday is celebrated on July 14th, which also lands on Bastille Day, the French national holiday which helped the group find a perfect band name. In December 2010, Virgin Records signed a recording contract with Bastille. In April 2012, the first single, "Overjoyed" was released. The song that took them to the top was 'Pompeii" featured on their first studio album.
Their first studio album, Bad Blood was released March 2013 and flew to the top of the UK charts. In November 2014, Bastille sold 5 million records in the US and 2.5 million in the UK. As they continue to top the charts, keep an eye out for their new album coming soon after their tour comes to an end within the next few months.

"Autumn. The year's last, loveliest smile". -W.C. Bryant

Boots, crisp air, pretty leaves, sweaters & football.

I love fall!

My favorite season is fall because the leaves start to change, the weather cools down and Christmas is right around the corner. It's time to bring out your boots with dresses and skinny jeans. It's also the perfect time for this holiday Starbucks drinks (soy carmel brûlée latte, YUM!)
I hope you're all enjoying the new season and have started layering the amazing new trends for fall. Look out for some new concert and outfit posts for 'The Society of Fashion' to feature.
What do you love about the fall season?
